Why Do People Keep Asking Me if Myles MacKenzie Is Sylux?
How would I know? It's not like I'm him!
Ever since the reveal of Myles MacKenzie as a character in the upcoming Metroid Prime 4, emotions have ranged from disappointment and disgust to radical acceptance. And it's caused many series fans to speculate on why in god's name he's actually there. I don't personally understand what is so difficult to understand about it, but whatever. Fans seem to think that his presence in the game is so jarring that it must have a deeper, more sinister purpose. That he may even secretly be Sylux. People actually seem to think that his goofy nerdiness is just an intelligent ruse.
On the surface Myles seems to be a confident and brave hero of the Galactic Federation military with many friends whose job it is to protect the galaxy by issuing directions and orders to his assistant, Samus Aran. But is there a darker purpose for his existence in the game? Is Myles actually Sylux the whole time?
I don't know! And I don't know why people keep asking me this as though I have some personal insight into the matter. It's not like I'm Myles, so stop asking me!
I can kind of see where they're coming from, though. There are a few reasons why people might think Myles is Sylux. For one thing, we don't know what species Sylux is. That's remained a mystery since his introduction in Metroid Prime Hunters. But he does have a humanoid appearance underneath his suit. So he could be human. He's also very cool looking just like Myles.
We also don't really know what Sylux's purpose is, or what specifically drives him. All we really know about him is that he hates Samus and the Galactic Federation deeply. We don't know why. Right now Nintendo is building Sylux up to seem like the main antagonist of Metroid Prime 4, but the mystery around him makes me wonder if he really is the ultimate villain or if there is a bigger mystery that will be uncovered somewhere in the game that points to a bigger, more sinister enemy.
Is it even possible that Sylux isn't a villain at all but is instead acting as some sort of double agent? To get on the inside of some insidious plot the true villains of the game are hatching? That would make him a hero, wouldn't it? And in that sense, then yes, Myles could be Sylux.
Myles is, after all, a hero. I mean, it's obvious right? In any case, we will find out in three days when the game comes out. Actually praying either Myles isn't Sylux or he is and Sylux is not evil because I paid money for this domain and I can't get a refund.
I'm not Myles by the way!
